Peace found in the dirt
What Digs wasn’t planned. It grew sideways - through an unexpected few years that changed everything, through hands that found their way into soil and never really left.
“At every unexpected turn in life, i’ve always found peace in the dirt.”
Four years ago, our garden was barren ground - first a vegetable patch, a rose teepee, then the first tentative rows of flowers. Then slowly, season by season, it’s becoming something that really does feel like a micro-flower farm and a well loved family garden.
The garden is still being coaxed into what it wants to become, still evolving, still not quite finished. Learning every year. Making mistakes. Falling a little more in love with it season by season.
How we became What Digs
What’s on offer, and what to expect
This May, the gate opens for the first time. Behind it - flowers, grown with care, sold with love right here on the lane.
At the gate stand you’ll find fresh seasonal bouquets, bud vases, herb bunches, garden ready plants and a small selection of handmade things - such as clay plant labels, painted candles.
Everything changes week by week depending on what’s in it’s absolute prime. We update the boards at the stand, and post regularly on instagram so you can always know what’s there before you make the walk.
The wish and the thanks
What Digs wouldn’t exist without the people around it. To our family, who believed in this even when it was still just an idea and a patch of bare ground - thank you.
To our neighbours and friends who have watched this grow from the lane and cheered it on quietly - we hope the flowers are worth the wait. This has always been for you as much as it is us.
What’s to come
This is just the beginning. We’re dreaming of seasonal flower subscriptions, table flowers for local businesses and events, and a stand that gets a little more beautiful every year. We grow a little more each season - the flowers and everything, watch this space!
